I agree, under the circumstances in the Middle East, we had to be careful and didn’t have enough time or proper education for the final exams.

Holding IB examinations in Dubai under the current circumstances raises concerns about fairness and equal opportunity for all students. Disruptions affecting preparation and learning conditions may prevent candidates from demonstrating their true academic ability. Since the IB aims to ensure a fair and consistent assessment environment worldwide, continuing exams despite unequal conditions risks undermining this principle. To maintain the integrity of its assessment system and support student wellbeing, the IB should consider cancelling the examinations in Dubai and using alternative assessment methods instead.

A strong argument for cancelling International Baccalaureate exams is the impact of ongoing regional conflicts on students’ ability to prepare and perform fairly. Many students in different parts of the world are living through unstable conditions such as political tension, safety concerns, disrupted schooling, and emotional stress caused by nearby conflicts. These situations can interrupt classes, limit access to resources, and make it extremely difficult for students to focus on studying. IB exams are designed to measure academic ability under equal conditions, but regional conflicts create major inequalities between students. While some students can prepare in stable environments, others may face uncertainty, anxiety, or even school closures. Expecting all students to sit the same high-stakes exams under such unequal circumstances is unfair. Therefore, cancelling IB exams during periods of regional instability and relying more on coursework and teacher assessments would ensure a fairer evaluation of students’ knowledge while recognizing the real challenges many students are facing.

It’s unethical and impractical to expect students to be able to give exams in such political conditions. Safety is at high risk no matter where we are anything can happen at any given time. Balancing the school stress with everything that’s going on is absolutely extremely unrealistically impossible. We would be forever grateful of IB could use predicts and IAs to grade us.

I believe that we, as students in the middle east are in a clear disadvantage compared to ib students around the world. Postponing it to november is likely to cause trouble and complications with students desired universities. Changing examination center option is not available for most people as it is challenging to find an ib school that has all 6 of the taken subjects. Well for the last option, leaving ib is not even considerable for most as students have spent too much time and effort for this diploma. I believe cancelling the exams and taking in IA’s and predicteds are much more fair as those have been done and complete prior to the start of the war in the middle east.
