Request for Cancellation or Alternative Assessment for IB May 2026 Exams in the Middle East

I'm one of the many unfortunate people who were affected heavily by the ongoing bombings. I was on track for my externals and my IB coursework and then everything just went downhill. I can't focus anymore, even when the bombing momentarily stop. There are always jets outside. Everything sounds like bomb to me now; the sound of cars speeding by makes me anxious as if it's a bomb speeding towards my home. I am constantly anxious, worried about my friends, wondering if my family would be the next unlucky family on the news. IB means a great deal to me and I have worked terribly hard for it. I am trying to stay on track but I cannot ignore the blatant reality that I am at a terrible disadvantage. I hope IB realizes that it's more than the papers being delivered on time or us being able to write the exams at their correct times; it's the psychological impact. We simply cannot perform well under the war conditions we've been out under. We are handling so much right now, it is incredibly disadvantageous and unfair for us to do externals.

We hope it gets cancelled.

I agree to this petition and I want it to be more lenient as it’s unfair

Waiting until mid April to see whether the ongoing war in the region ends or not for IB to actually decide whether proceed with external examinations is invalid. Sure, there may be a sense of relief if it does end, but in the meantime, the war has gotten schools and students completely of track. Progress with IAs is halted, communication in distance learning is poor, some syllabi aren’t even finished. Also, the most important thing (studying) is disrupted. Alerts and constant pressure and fear from explosions creates unfit conditions for studying, which makes or breaks external results.
