I personally believe that, under these circumstances, students in the Middle East should be exempt from taking these exams. Asking teenagers to dissociate from what is currently happening (which is, in fact, worse than what is being shown in the news) and to focus on studying and exams is honestly inhumane. Students cannot be expected to stress about all aspects of their futures — such as university applications, jobs, internships, and even getting their driver’s licences — while also worrying about staying alive, all while being led to believe that their exams will still go ahead. Additionally, schools have been shut down until April 6th (amounting to four weeks without school since this began). As a result, students have suffered from a lack of revision; some have not finished the syllabus, while others have not completed their internal assessments or oral examinations. This is unbelievably insensitive.

As a student in grade 12 going through bombings on a day to day basis, I find it unfair that not only are we unable to attend school and learn from teachers but it is also hard for us to study at home with constant bombings and loud noises.

As an m25 student who was one point away from the diploma due to HL points being 11, I can’t be taking another gap year, we can’t transfer to another IB school when boarders are closed, and we don’t want any refunds. If the situation is this bad then grading our coursework like Covid students should be another option for us.

It is difficult to concentrate during these times because of the noise and us shifting to safer locations in a hurry. Online classes are available, but they are not the optimal method of teaching for IB students. These factors combined place a greater burden on us students to engage in self-study and perform, even while we are under significant additional stress. We are trying our best with the internal assessments.

The IB exams should be cancelled in the Middle East, due to the current crisis as students are finding it difficult to continue with their daily activities due to major uncertainty regarding safety. Hence, it would be unfair that students living in this region have to take the exams while in these conditions.

I believe students should have equal chances of succeeding in their IB exams. The current situation in the GCC region does not allow for that.

The students are currently on distance learning and not having direct to covering up the full syllabus, therefore I will recommend to have a review on the may 2026 as the students will not be able to complete the syllabus and be fully equipped to attend the examination in May 2026

Due to the current situation in the Middle East, and the online education, I am personally unable to prepare for the exams as good as if I was in school. Distance learning does not provide such a good preparation as I need. I would prefer the exams to be cancelled, and receive the final grades based on the summatives, mocks, and IAs

We haven’t even finished the course for Physics HL, Chemistry HL or english SL. Having online school is making it even harder to do so and my classmates and I are expected to self study the remaining units for Physics HL. How is this fair? These exams should be cancelled 100%. Not only that, but the ongoing war is putting all students in extremely bad mental states and the IBO expects us to be able to perform at our highest ability whilst battling the fear of death. We are still teenagers if I must remind you.
