Exams in the Middle East should be cancelled or postponed because ongoing instability can affect students’ safety, focus, and mental health. With disrupted learning and unequal conditions, exams would not fairly reflect students’ abilities.

The current situation has made it impossible for us to sleep, study, or prepare adequately. Continuous attacks, displacement, and psychological stress have created conditions where taking exams is not only unsafe but also fundamentally unfair.
We have worked hard and want to demonstrate our learning, but the extreme circumstances are beyond our control and prevent us from performing to our true abilities. We urge the authorities to consider the well-being, safety, and academic fairness for all students impacted by this crisis and cancel the exams for this cycle

Petition to Cancel the Upcoming Exams
To whom it may concern,
My name is a student who has been trying—really trying—to keep up, to stay strong, and to prepare for these exams. But the truth is, it hasn’t been easy. Every day feels heavier than the last, and the pressure keeps building to a point where it’s hard to even think clearly.
My friend Azeem says it all the time: “I wish the exams would just cancel.” At first, it sounded like a joke. But now, it feels like the only thing that could give us a moment to breathe.
This petition is not written out of laziness or lack of care. It’s written because many of us are overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, and quietly struggling. We sit in classrooms pretending we understand, pretending we’re ready, when inside, we feel lost.
Exams are meant to measure what we know—but what about when stress and fear take over? What about when students can’t even show their true abilities because they’re too anxious to think?
We are asking—no, we are pleading—for understanding.
Canceling or postponing the exams would not just be a break from tests. It would be a chance for students like me and Azeem to regain confidence, to actually learn without fear, and to come back stronger instead of breaking under pressure.
We want to do well. We care about our future. But right now, we are struggling.
Please hear us.
Sincerely,
A student who just needs a little more time

I understand it’s not my place to decide whether we take boards or not, however in my two years of being an IB student I take it that the international baccalaureate is all about listening to their students and prioritising wellbeing. Therefore I am very hopeful that they will listen to their students concerns. I hope this situation can be addressed quickly.
