Do you know the emails teachers are getting: "Please send an email to tell my child to sit and listen, he does not listen to me." Help my child wants to go the bathroom all the time, this is stressful." "Please send a voice note to tell my child she cannot stay in her pyjamas all day I cannot work and do this." "This is too much, I am trying to work from home and supervise my child's studies."
Firstly, a teacher's role is to educate and provide academic materials for your child whilst at home during this period. They are not the parent, you are! Secondly, teachers are also trying to do their work and supervise their own children - just like you!
Now to address this demand I am seeing about Zoom and live lessons. I am Local, and you live in a country where taking photographs and video recording people without their consent is illegal and punishable by law.
What gives parents the right to think they can demand teachers to be video recorded if they do not want to be.
I hope each and every parent demanding this accepts the onus they will be opening themselves up to legal repercussions if they share or even worse post this to another site like you tube without the teachers knowledge or permission.
Some teachers may not wish be recorded due to personal or religious beliefs. Some husbands may not want their teacher wife to be put in a position where her identity and face has the potential to be reposted to the internet on any site.
Repton. must take a long hard look at this proposal as this is a very sensitive topic and one which has legal ramifications.
I am personally appalled that this petition is even circulating. Repton you are doing a great job!

I believe e learning is not suitable for kids aged 3 to 6 (FS1 to Y1) They have lost interest and they learn through experience not through videos or chats. Its 3 more months to go and forcing them to sit everyday to complete the tasks isnt feasible.

Many thanks for initiating the petition. While we are willing to pay the school fees, such fees should reflect and appreciate the difficulties imposed to all of us by this unprecedented pandemic. Fully agreed on what's mentioned here. Stay safe.

Too much efforts from the parents for remote learning. We are acting as a teacher sometimes. It charges too much for only several videos every day.

I agree for FS1 and FS2 . The rest of the students are having full time class. Adaptation is the word we all looking for. Parents are really the most affected by this situation. Fs1 and fs2 is totally dependent on parents and the work done is much less than actual school.

I understand teachers are suffering also difficult time during COVID-19 outbreak. However, the Repton should understand parents also taking more difficult time to bear all of things - Work, Home (some time as a teacher). Thus, the parents shoulb be compensated.

There should definitely be a discount of at least 30% on the FS1 and FS2 classes but without effecting the teachers salary. If anything the fee should be taken from the school’s profits for that semester. Repton should have initiated this from the begining noting that ADEK have have confirmed that only grades 1 onwards must complete the term.

It is fair and human reasoning to offer some form of discount to the fees. I have 2 children in Repton and I have to teach the kids with the curriculum materials & work through assignments including the tutorials. This is a full time job and requires significant level of commitment from parents. I.understand the teacher spend a lot of time making the videos, but the quality is not the same. Because the onus now fall on the parents, it is natural to offer a good refund. Thank you.

Unfortunately i can't fully agree with this petition for 2 reasons. Firstly there is a mandated discount stated which appears unreasonable. I have recieved requests from my clients for dicounts and the largest of these was 30% which was found to be completely unreasonable. This was because they did not have knowledge of our real expenses and additional costs we were incurring as a result of Covid19 events. I don't see what additional costs a school would have because it does not rely on world markets and border closures. Secondly the teachers are under the same strain and conditions which each one of us is also experiencing and i know how much time and effort i put in when working from home. Yes, there should be a greater reduction in fees for younger years where appropriate home learning just simply does not work. I do not believe that it is fair that the school should make profit at the expense of others in this situation if they have reduced wages. I also believe that a position such as this should be addressed to the Ministry of Education, not just the school. I hope everyone knows that there is now a law requiring every school age child to be taught by a registered school and prohibiting personal home schooling. I do not know if this is applicable for pre-school years but would assume it is not and they could just leave the school. A discount of 40% for fs1 and fs2 may be reasonable but for older years, it appears to me that what is being provided and enhanced is fairly good. For the older years at least 20% discount would appear to be reasonable because of reduced operating costs along with wage reductions. Alternate to this would be a discount which is proportionate to the school financial statements reflecting savings employed. If the school would actually share the real situation and pass this along, everyone would share equally and honestly. This would be true collaboration.
