A Call for the Resignation of the SKC President

I’ve never seen what SKC has done for Native American students attending high schools on the reservation. There is no push to put more young people enrolled in CSKT to attend SKC. SKC was known for basketball than they fired Zack. If SKC isn’t here for tribal members primarily from CSKT than it should change the people who don’t have there heart in the right place.

Again, Natives don’t think they need to be handed anything. If your not racist or a bigot then don’t say thing that they usually say about us. If your Native then stop oppression your own people by spreading those stereotypes.

I support this. Myself and classmates are being effected by this administration.

People who bully use their power—such as physical strength, Job title or popularity—to control or harm others. Bullying behaviors also happen more than once or have the potential to happen more than once. I have no power, the people effected by this president have no power. This Petition is not a part of a repetitive action.

Whoever you are Jane Doe, sounds like you are someone from the Big Knife building or Administration. JaneDoe Smoe, you said "We think being native, we should just be handed everything at SKC. Are you insinuating that Native Americans don't try and don't work, and that they get everything handed to them? Sounds like you are an Indian hater. That kind of mentality that is dangerous and disgusting, especially if you work at a Tribal college or entity. How do you know it is a "she" that started this petition? Again, sounds like someone who works in the Big Knife building or Administration with a lot of insight. SKC administration has ruined many careers, and has been creating a toxic work environment for staff, faculty, and students for a while. Sounds like Administration is finally getting a taste of what they've been dishing for 20+ years. I vote to get rid of them all, they are holding SKC back from the true potential. Administration, cant allow SKC to move forward because it will exceed their comprehension. Administration cant allow SKC to be cultural because they are not cultural. Administration wants to remove the "Tribal" aspect from the college, if that is not the goal, then they are making SKC out to be the Shiniest Apple CSKT has ever had, and the board is allowing it. SKC has become an embarrassment to CSKT. Drain the Swamp because none of them are descent representation.

why are you throwing a tantrum? Why bring the R word into this? Call your own kind racist is kinda naïve and hypocritical. The thing is... what’s your beef with the administration? Did they let you go for not doing your job? Did you go after someone in the administration legally and you lost so this is the next part of your tantrum? Your reason for going after them is very vague? If you don’t like people’s response and are going to call names to people giving their opinions to your petition... you are just looking like a defensive fool.

Yes I am speaking as a native person myself. I should have made that clear, my apology. I have met many people through my life in our area who have been let go or passed over for a job because either they didn’t do their job or didn’t have the qualifications. But their reason for being so upset was “I am translating it shouldn’t matter” or “they just didn’t like me because I wasn’t white enough”.. and many more excuses! My family has grown up in SKC and I don’t expect my family to just give me the easy road, I want to work for it and not just be given something because Of my ancestors.. Many people think, if my parents work there or grandparents do, I should be given a job too or free education.. We should work hard for what we want and the best part of that is feeling accomplished. I guess my reason for making my comment above, is there have been many people let go lately for not doing their jobs and some of them, I will not name names, have been going after the administration for doing their jobs by getting rid of those employees. Such as the one doing this petition. Since joe McDonald left, the college has been going through presidents quite quickly for different reasons. We’ve had a couple good ones and not such great ones.. and this one may just be in that latter category. Growth and change is great to an extent. Opinions and concerns are good to be voiced, but I suppose some of the gossip and slander being thrown around... isn’t okay.

We need more culture!

With anonymity, people can be free to express unpopular ideas and be critical of people in power without risking retaliation. If you work at SKC or have family that work at SKC you put yourself or your family members at risk of losing their jobs. This is the reality. This petition gives the membership the ability to weigh in as SKC belongs to the people not certain individuals. The comments are evident that there are issues that need to be addressed.

Our president is out of touch with campus. She seems to chose to uplift herself and not staff or faculty. She does not seem to have leadership skills needed to pull the campus out of its poor state that she has been a part of. Each year more and more problems mount.

That goes for you too, “concerned Native”. Don’t hide behind a guise. I put my name out there, who are you and what’s your real beef?

You should post your name akwafina and not hide behind a guise. If people sign with their name then they believe in the message. Why would you judge them for that?
