As one of many taking the ICAEW CFAB qualification, I have experienced having to use a terribly outdated calculator in my exams.

This is just an added difficulty to what are already highly time pressured exams.

If you would like for the calculators to be updated too (e.g. to Casio fx-85GT PLUS http://www.staples.co.uk/fx-83gtplus-scientific-ca...) then please sign this petition so we can make our lives easier in future exams :)

Let's get this sorted!

Fully behind this, everyone uses the fx-83GT. It's a much better calculator, we were taught with it all the way through school & college and it's far more user-friendly. The exams are tough enough without the added pressure of having to triple check your calculations for each answer.

I agree with this, when you press a button on the calculator it does not register. A lot of time is wasted during exams ensuring the numbers have been registered on the calculator. Since the ICAEW is one of the largest and well known accounting bodies, it does not make sense that they provide calculators which are insufficient for the exams.

Hello I am an ICAEW student at EY currently studying for my CFAB qualification and I am writing in relation to the Aurora calculator petition run by Kayleigh Anderson http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/replace-aurora-calculators-with-casio . After taking several of the CFAB exams I have had particular trouble with the Aurora calculators which we have to use. It slows me down when carrying out calculations and I know that others in my class have had similar issues. It would be greatly appreciated if these could be upgraded to more recent models e.g. Casio fx-85GT PLUS. I look forward to hearing from you about how this can be changed and updates from Kayleigh on your response to the petition. Many thanks in advance, Kind regards

Definitely agree! The calculators are very rigid and very user unfriendly. Grown up through the UK schooling system whereby you are told to use Casio calculators and then shifting to Aurora must be a problem for the majority of students, if not all.

My calculator stopped working midway through the exam - as if I wasn't stress out enough!

Everybody uses the Casio fx-83GT now. Those other calculators are terrible.

Hello, I too am an ICAEW student working for EY. I completely agree. Often the calculator does not register when you have pressed a button which means that a lot of attention has to be given to typing numbers into the calculator and correcting the calculator's errors. Should I fail to notice that the calculator has not responded, I could get the wrong answer, slowing me down in my exam or even affecting my results. These calculators are almost as much of a hindrance as an assistance. Further to this, I have tried to purchase my own version of the calculator so that I can practice with it and get used to its functions, but they are no longer available to buy in the UK. It would be greatly appreciated if these could be upgraded to more recent models e.g. Casio fx-85GT PLUS. I look forward to hearing from you about how this can be changed and updates from Kayleigh on your response to the petition. Kind regards, Pascale Murray
