Why isn't our union stepping up more to end privatizing education?

Same public money, different rules. We shouldn't need two tiers of rules. Justice for all means publicly funded education should be accountable to the public, not exploited for profit.

If you know of a public school that's operating poorly, don't shut it down and invite a private corporation to run it instead. As a member of the public, engage the problem publicly ... and fix it. The slash-and-burn technique is like blackening toast for breakfast and fixing the problem by ripping out your kitchen and buying an EggMcMuffin every morning for the rest of your life. Huh?

Charter school chains are run by cynical, money hungry pigs.

Eli Broad announced he wants to cut public schools in half and make them all charters. Let's do this now before he further destroys public education.

I was once a charter supporter but i have experienced too much negativity due to these unregulated schools. Colocations are the saddest because they bring back segregation. Charter schools were meant to try out and experiment with different methods of teaching and then implementing those that worked best. I think we have enough data and now is the time to implement and close the doors to those seeking to destroy public school for profit.

Charter schools are often run by people with NO background or training in education. Current families of charter school-attending children should think deeply about that.

We no longer have the ability to see special education enrollment by individual school on the CA St Dept of Ed, DataQuest site. It would show, specifically by category, which children with disabilities were enrolled in charters...that is until Gov. Schwarzenegger loaded the Ca Board of Ed with charter-friendly appointees who decided to discontinue this. Instead of more transparency, there is less. When it comes to students with moderate/severe disabilities, English language learners, Foster and homeless youth, the charters would rather not serve these students. What's ironic is the law was created to supposedly help those in most need and the opposite has occurred with exclusive and discriminatory enrollment practices the rule.

The 1% profits off the secretive and corrupt charter schools industry subsidized by the taxpayer. Protect public education and put this measure of the ballot!

Remember, when people use the term "public charter school" the only part that is "public" are the tax dollars that charter schools suck out of your neighborhood school!
