As a former charter school teacher, I feel that I can authoritatively stand against them. They are no good for education in this country.

Education is a democratic right that should guarantee academic freedom and freedom of speech for the students that can't happen with Charter (private) education by its very nature this can only be guarantee with public education!

Charter schools kick out students who are not on track to graduate and send them to public schools. Shameful.

Charter Schools are a "Trojan Horse" for privatization, as Danny Glover has demonstrated re: New Orleans. Its a classic example of Naomi Klein's "Shock Doctrine.". All it takes is a disaster to put into play what was already planned. The Governor proved that theory in New Orleans - less than two weeks after Katrina..

Privatizing public education is detrimental to our children, detrimental to our economy, and detrimental to our country. It will ruin one of our most precious gifts....DIVERSITY! It will literally make it impossible to keep our society mobile.

A free public education is the right of every citizen of the United States. Charter schools are a way to maintain the ability of those of means to a better level of teaching. Those who cannot afford them are left with a substandard education. This is something that no democracy which wants to protect freedom and equal rights can tolerate.

I started teaching in public schools in 1992. Charters are not what they were meant to be.

Charter schools exist because reactionaries finally realized they weren't going to get the vouchers they had fought for for so long and billionaires with zero interest in education noticed that there was a huge pile of public funds in education that they just itched to get their greasy fingers on. The fact that both groups are hostile to organized workers and that charters are a direct attack on teachers unions only sweetened the matter for them. Those who claim charters are about "reform" or "competition" in the education field are either consciously disingenuous or live in a fantasy world. Save public education and end charters now!

Our voices matter and public schools belong to the communities and taxpayers that fund them!

There's a lack of proper oversight for charter schools. I also disagree strongly with the charter schools being able to co-locate onto an existing public school campus

Charter Schools are: A. The new Cash Cows of the GOP, B. And incubators of future sheep-mentality trained Voters; C. Dangerous for American Democracy. When did America walk away from their commitment to a world class education for its Children - when it slashed Education Funding and began the rapid descent to middle of the end of World Standings of Industrialized Modern Nations.
