These dogs needed rescuing and this woman stepped up to care for them! Let her continue to do so!

There are too many dogs in shelters and other animal facilities because people don't want the responsibility . These people want their dogs and have the means and secure property to keep them.

Nobody should be forced to give up their best friends. Especially if they're reduce dogs and will just go right back to the pound. What sense does that make?

It is time to update this bylaw to reflect the reason why many move out of town in the first place! This woman deserves to keep her dogs, and future situations need to be dealt with individually!

as long as the animals are healthy and happy and have vet care, especially farm areas were they have lots of room to play. the law was to control city animal population and discourage hoarders, there should be amendments for responsible owners.

This is not a hoarder situation and this by law is antiquated. If she can easily accommodate them, who is any government to put a restriction on that or separate a family???

I do strongly feel this rule should be abolished from Lethbridge all together and as for this case She lives out in the country. There is no reason to implement the 2 dog limit as long as they are appropriately cared for.

As long as the owner is taking appropriate care of the animals, there is no reason to implement a 2 dog limit. With annual health checks and a registration with the county, I believe it's conceivable to have up to 10 dogs, provided they are in good health and either have proof of vaccinations or vet health checks annually. You're "throwing the baby out with the bath water" so to speak. Punish owners keeping animals of any kind in squalor, but this situation doesn't qualify. The only reason this was brought to the forefront was because someone had sour grapes over barking. It matters not if they had 2 barking dogs or 20, because if one dog starts, all surrounding dogs add their voices to make a cacophony of barking. The dogs in question are well cared for and healthy, please take this into consideration before breaking up a family. Registration need not be tags, it can be as simple as a piece of paper like a business license for the number of animals approved by the county. Then when required, the owner shows the registration to the bylaw control or whomever to prove the county is aware of the animals and they've all been vet checked.
