If UCR wants to get more people to donate, fixing up the Arts Building might give the campus a chance to find a donor to put their name on the building.

I can't believe how bad the school has let the art building deteriorate. Just the other day I tripped over the ground that had broken up and mushed up weird from the rain, and the walls are falling apart on the exterior. Plus, the outdoor walkways are filthy with dirt and unknown stains. The elevators terrify me. The permit says it expired over a year ago and they shake and make noises.

Can not agree more with this petition and much needed one at that! The state of disrepair and neglect is both appalling and embarrassing and demonstrates a lack of care and responsibility on the part of the University/administration.

It's about time! As a graduate of the dance program I would like to see our building be taking care of. The arts building represents UCR as well and should be shown with the same dignity.

The arts building is the most unique building at UCR and its beauty is slowly fading. I would love to see the arts building shine again as it deserves it!

It is quite unfortunate to invite world class scholars and artist to campus, and have them witness architecture that is sub-par to the rest of the UC campuses, If we are going to produce the next generation of leaders, it is necessary that we have an arts building, which marks the entrance to the university, be a beacon of imagination and hope, instead of an artifact of decomposition.

To whom it may concern:
I'm a current Dance major student at UCR and I would like for our Dance Department to be as important as any other department at UCR because we "Dance Major" do not pay less tuition. Our dance studios floor are always dirty, it seems likely if we have no maintenance crew. The mirrors are always dirty as well. The locker rooms in the third floor of the arts building look old and dirty. Therefore Dance students never use them. We really need attention and repairs for our Dance department.

Hooray for this petition. And its very curious that someone in charge of the repairs has not taken this upon themselves to address them. Who is this person, what office? Why has this taken a petition when its completely obvious these things need attention? Is this our job to instigate. If so, fair enough, but a memo needs to be sent out occasionally to remind faculty how to address these types of issues.
From m y research I see that R'Space has a link under Tools that looks helpful. But still, the protocol for this needs clarification to all people using the building.

As the first building that is seen to those entering campus from University Ave, the Arts building is either attracting folks, or it is repelling folks. I have attended several plays in the Arts theater and was always taken aback by the unkempt appearance of the south side of the Arts Building. Please help UCR put its best face forward to the public and to the UCR Community.

We just had our undergraduate program reviewed by outside faculty from rich institutions, and the place made us look to be less than we are.

The UCR Arts Building is iconic. It's one of the first structures prospective students, employees and donors will see. Its exterior and maintenance should reflect the excellence of UC Riverside.

This is SOOOOO overdue and necessary! The Arts building is filthy, in disrepair, and a disgrace to potential faculty hires, graduate recruits, and the general public -- as well as current faculty and students who are in the space daily.

I concur wholeheartedly. I always wondered why they boarded the planter sections for so long (at least 2014) since I've been here. I thought it was for a fountain. Shame that no plants are in there.
