Not only is this the primary building for all of the Arts departments on campus--the place in which we teach and work--it is also a performing arts venue where we welcome the broader public to come to campus and experience the music, dance, art, scholarship, and more that we have to share. Its deteriorating condition does not send a very positive message about the state of the university to those patrons.

This award-winning building deserves better treatment than this. The abuse and neglect are shameful. The state of the building gives visitors an extremely negative view of UCR, and it's detrimental to teaching and learning.

I support the petition for the occupants of the Arts Bldg (Faculty, staff and students) and for other users. The Arts Bldg. needs some work done (both interior and exterior) especially being the first bldg located at the main entrance to the campus.

The building is in shocking condition. It is a deterrent to applicants, both prospective students and prospective faculty. And it is a health hazard.
