Architects should be shot for the terrible job they did on the exterior of this building. Not a bad building, but Frank Israel was obviously not great with materials. Not money has to be spent to correct the problems.

Compared to other well kept areas on UCR's campus, the arts building is an embarassment. There is no reason to stick around after class. Not only are the hallways filthy, but the floor bubbles up where water collects and a family of racoons was reported to be living in a wall on the second floor (although that may have been adressed already). The music library is the only place for undergrads to study or read, because the benches outside are too narrow and too few, and the steps are always occupied because students don't have anywhere to go. The public restrooms that are the most used need to be repaired. The building looks great from far away in the photos ucr posts on social media, but the lack of upkeep is a disservice to the people who need to use it!

I am compelled to add that sewer gases in the third floor ladies' room build up to such a degree that the air is frequently poisonous. Often the restroom cannot be used as the gas build up is so strong that my eyes burn upon entering. Our community deserves a safe place to work and study. At the very minimum, these conditions are an embarrassment to the UC. I suggest that the air quality be investigated immediately as it will likely be deemed in violation of OSHA regulations.

The hallways in particular are filthy. Bringing prospective students/faculty through the dance studios and adjacent stairwells is an embarrassment. The outdoor area has the potential to provide a lovely and visually calming countenance. Instead it is depressing, cheaply repaired and ignored by maintenance. I also have noticed that other parts of the campus do not suffer such neglect. What's up with that??!!

The ARTS building is a hazardous eyesore in an otherwise attractive campus. With the rodent infestation, it is a health hazard. Please repair it and upgrade the elevators as soon as possible. Other UCR real estate development projects ought to be placed on hold until this building is restored.

The other day I tripped over the warped and disgusting flooring. Are they going to wait for someone to actually injure themselves and sue? I thought people administering a university would be more educated than that...

There also need to be some improvement with the ART building's elevators. The one on the right always feels like it'll drop every time it hits the fourth floor. Many of us are terrified of using it with the thought that it will drop sooner or later. The floor on the first floor is also tearing up and gets worse after every rain. I would be more reassured if the elevators are fixed though. Some of us, Art student, are purposely trying to avoid that specific elevator and using the other one, but I'm worried about someone, who doesn't know about this and gets freaked out from this. I don't want the ART building to seem like a broken down place ready to fall apart too. So, it would be great if these parts were patched up and fixed.

The stained, empty 'planter' near the performance slab is an embarrassment. Crumbling patches of surfacing in the courtyard are the latest problem, which bubbled up after recent heavy rains and have now broken apart, leaving shallow potholes behind. The Arts Building is depressing. It needs both basic routine clean up as well as a number of significant repairs.

There is a lot of rough spots around the entire building and the elevators are very sketchy, I almost only take the stairs. Also the paint is so bad that it only looks decent when it rains. You really get a look back in time when you're around the art building.

As a dance major, the Arts building was like a second home to me. Extremely integral to my education, some of my fondest memories come from hanging around here. The intricacy of the building and space were integral to my time at UCR as they served as a point of inspiration as well as performance spaces for us as dancers.

The Arts Building--which was shoddily built in the first place--is now falling apart. Bluntly, it is becoming dangerous. Please do basic repairs!

Since many visitors enter the campus via Parking Lot 1, this is one of the first vistas they have of the campus. It is important that we don't look shabby and disregarded. Thank you.
