If class is to reopen, we should get a statement from management with some sort of contingency plan with regard to the demands. We cannot sweep the problems under the rug because they will just pile up and resurface every year. UCT management and the protesters need to come to a compromise and work together towards reaching the demands.

I can't afford to extend my degree. My family is not going to live forever and they need me to be working as soon as possible to look after them in retirement.

Why let a few ungrateful indivuals disrupt a whole country. If they burn and damage things, they are criminals! Lock them up and you will have peace!

We need to graduate,we can't be selfish to take the opportunity away from the incoming first years for them to also go to university. The families of the graduates await the salaries and permits for international students are or the easiest let's not be selfish. WHO ARE YOU FIGHTING FOR WHEN YOU HURT THE PEOPLE UOU CLAIM TO BE FIGHTING FOR??

An open university is a place for learning, keeping it closed removes that value
If we don't open soon, no one can graduate
The entire reality of tertiary education will be scarred, as there will be no space for new students to come to university, cos us current students will be here. A ripple effect that will mean that just due to Uct there will be 10000 high school graduates with no where to go
But I agreeFees must fall.
every person should be given a chance to succeed beyond their money limitations
I agree transformation in tertiary education is how we change the country. Worked during the French revolution, so why not now. I am proud to be alive during this potential new mentality, that we are greater than the history that got us here
But I disagree with colonization must fall, (but not entirely)
We cannot and should not remove the reminders of how we have changed. We should not be erasing history that which does not affect us. Statues don't matter, but the mental stigmas, physical manifestations of pre Apartheid planning that scars put cities, that should go.
Mini rant over
Reopen UCT!!
