In a highly regulated industry, estheticians are required to pass a state board exam where they prove their knowledge and understanding of hygiene protocols mandated by the state, dpl and OSHA.

Please allow facials! They are already protected with masks and all PPE!

If we can go to a dentist and get our hair done, why can’t we get a facial?

If dentists can open, facial places can open also. We use face shields, mask and gloves just as dentists.

It’s upsetting to know we are phase-less when we, even before a pandemic, follow strict guidelines to keep our clients and staff safe. We follow very specific protocols that most professions that are allowed to work dont even know or follow. What was the point then to take our NY state boards and 600 hours of our time if we are considered unsafe. Other states with less hours for a license are allowing estheicians to work. so please let us open. SB SKIN

Estheticians are trained and licensed in cross contamination/sanitation. Its ridiculous that some business have been able to open and not licensed professionals. Regulations need to be lifted on this profession immediately.

I am a NYS Licensed Esthetician and own a small skin care business. My main focus is facials which are prohibited in the Personal Care guidelines due to the fact that face masks have to be removed during the service. I am respectfully requesting the allowance of facials, fax waxing etc. based on the following: Employees / technicians could wear goggles / face shields, along with masks and protective gloves when working on clients. This is allowed in the Dentistry guidelines. This is also allowed for make up applications in the Media Production guidelines. A make up application requires much more face to face contact than a facial given by a licensed esthetician. Another option available is a plexiglass sneeze guard / shield that could be placed over the customer’s face area. The provider / esthetician’ could use additional PPE if required. Either of these suggestions would ensure employee and client safety along with abiding by all other guidelines for PPE, physical distancing, workplace activity, hygiene, cleaning and disinfection ,etc. If this is not the correct procedure for this request, please let me know so that I may submit my request through the proper channels. Your time and consideration regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.
