I live and work in the Quarter and can attest to the added safety when the buskers and artists are out on the mall. Those folks are added eyes on the street and emergency vehicles have a better chance of getting through than when cars choke the streets. Get real and leave us our village life.

Aside from the fact that New Orleans prides itself on public participation in our culture, and our wonderful use of beautiful public spaces (some of the best in the country) this space also provides livelihoods for some of our most important artists. We already have police on the beat that can patrol---the police station is only blocks away! DON'T give into fear and follow the example of Paris by celebrating life as we do like no others.

This is ridiculous that you think by not blocking Royal Street off you will prevent terrorist acts. Bourbon St still gets blocked off at night. Guess it is the rich people living on Royal St getting their way. None if them live on Bourbon St.

This is the street I send all my friends to when they come in to New Orleans. We want to see the incredible talent of the street musicians - they create magic, and you are shutting that down. Please reopen.

New Orleans is at greater risk of attack from its own citizens (Mothere's Day and Bunny Park shootings), and the focus should be on lessening these threats.
