Make all the French Quarter pedestrian except for residents and deliveries. It's a fragile historic district, and the city should act like it. Shuttle people in and out.

Please, reopen! We want back the kids dancing on the street with no danger, babies going to tip the band; no car pollution when you are sitting on the sidewalk listening music!

While Royal stays closed, I now have two reasons not to re-visit New Orleans any time soon: The increase in violent crimes in the Quarter, and the recent closure one of the best spots in the city to encounter amazing artists on a regular basis. During my last visits, I saw no police presence on Bourbon Street - at all! Instead of coming up with such a lame example of bureau-crazy (pun intended) decisions, someone will have to start thinking about the bigger picture here. The tourist trade is one of the most important income sources for New Orleans. But if insufficient funds are made available to keep the visitors safe and at the same time one of their best source of entertainment is taken away, visitor numbers will start declining, and funds will decline, causing a viscious cycle from which there may be no return. Don't let New Orleans die!

come on guys....royal st. is very important to the artistic culture of new orleans...the street performers are one of the many things people come to new orleans for. It is very important to the culture of the city to maintain spaces where artists can perform and make a living doing so. they are VERY GOOD FOR TOURISM....VERY GOOD FOR TOURISM... did you get that...THEY ARE VERY GOOD FOR TOURISM.
WHY COME FROM ATLANTA OR HOUSTON TO GET THE SAME COOKIE CUTTER DISNEYLAND TOURIST EXPERIENCE?
real performers from the community who have free reign to do their thing are an important part of that experience for visitors. also if you arbitrarily close spaces for artists...YOU ARE PUTTING THEM OUT OF WORK.

the livelihood and culture of our city depend on this location and its accessibility. show support for music and culture instead of alcoholism-bourbon street is not new orleans culture, its nasty tourism. Have a heart, or make bourbon a thoroughfare as well.
