Musicians need royal street for more than music. They need it for learning, culture, community, and so much more. If you take that away you are taking one of the most important veins of New Orleans away from this great place.

I am a frequent visitor to New Orleans and my favorite pastime is watching the bands and activity on Royal St. This is a legendary New Orleans street. Please close it to street traffic during daytime.

Bicycle police are being certified in the department for fast response times in the French Quarter. Besides, everyone knows that Street washing trucks move people to the side walks fast. Happens every year after Mardi Gras.

This is the heart of the city. Tourists and locals alike spend their days on this street and experience entertainment in an environment that is original to New Orleans and not found anywhere else in the country. Street performers are peaceful and a great draw for tourism in your part of the world.

I'm a Royal St. performer, and can say without a doubt that this move has made the street LESS safe for everybody. I know they've now said they're going back to normal tomorrow (I'll be out there!), but I still want to sign the petition so maybe they won't try this bs again...
