One of my favorite reasons in going to NOLA is going to Royal and listening to yes ma'am band and other street performers. If I couldn't go to Royal and hear my favorite bands, I probably wouldn't go.

The ability to walk on Royal free of cars and happen upon music is one of the most charming things about the French Quarter. Please don't take this away from us and our musicians and street performers!

If there was an emergency, there are plenty of side streets.
Sounds like it's just an excuse to get rid of the beloved street musicians and that is literally the best part of Royal street in my opinion. It wouldn't be as cultural and New Orleans'y' without the street performers.
