The conditions of station are deplorable and dangerous. It should be renovated or closed, but closing is not an options for such a busy station so necessary for the people on the Lower East SIde. Fix it NOW!

I refuse to go into this station...new elevator or not. It is dirty, scary for women with all the hidden nooks and crannies around the stairwells. There should be an down escalator as well.

When it rains or snows, the station is a maze of puddles and wet trash -- I have to navigate my son around the various stairways to make sure we don't hit them. The escalator is an amazing improvement... let's take further steps in the right direction!

This is my the closest station to my home, yet I go out of my way not use the E.bway station because of the discussing rat problem down there, from the token booth area to the platform they are every where, it is shameful that rats are a daily accurance down there

I would like to add another issue. Hasnt the MTA noticed all the bus stations down east broadway? Do they think people only come up from the station with suitcases? How about going down? Are only people in their 20's runnng the MTA?

The MTA has to quit the business of running subways and buses for MTA workers and get into the business of providing transportation to people. Let's work to make the rehab of the East Broadway stop the first step toward the MTA providing transportation!

As a person with disabilities I find it discriminatory and illegal not to mention unbelievable unethical that this station could be accessible but is not due the neglect and laziness of the MTA and our Council leaders.

The E'Bway Station is indeed a mess and has been for over 30 years. The Speaker of the NY State Assembly, Shelly Silver and his crew, should be the ones to require that the station be renovated. For years nothing has been done and nothing will be done until someone in power demands it. This major transportation hub for the Lower East Side has been neglected over the years because of the low income housing in the area! It is time this neglect comes to an end.

This station is a disgrace. In addition to renovating it the MTA should also prevent wise asses from ripping people off at the gates by charging for letting them through the service door.
