I have been busy reaching out to the administration and asking for a sit-down to discuss what all of you have been saying here. It is honestly overwhelming to see so many people care about this and I am just trying to keep up with the momentum you have created.

The essence of the value of a college education is the development of the critical thinking skills required for the survival of our Democracy. My child has achieved that at Evergreen, and they credit Eirik Steinhoff as being instrumental in their growth.
Eirik is one of the most influential and inspiring teachers I've ever had. I was really felt like I was not cut out to be in school but eirik always encouraged me to write and to learn more. He is essential to evergreens success and his impact kept me in school.
Eirik is an exemplary teacher, and excellent faculty colleague and an adored mentor to so many students, especially those interested in writing. Writing must be taught more conclusively throughout our curriculum. Eirik and our students deserve his continued employment as faculty at TESC.
I am a graduating senior at the evergreen state college. My brief work with Prof. Eirick Steinhoff in the literary arts foundations program has been invaluable to my success as a student and in hopes later in academia and professionally. He embodies evergreen values and pedagogy inclusivally, thoughtfully and kindly.
Eirik was an excellent mentor to me for my ILC/SOS a few quarters ago. Finding a willing sponsor is not easy, and Eirik is among the few who fulfill the role well. His abilities and compassion are a major addition to Evergreen's offerings that cannot be substituted.
As a professor, Eirik Steinhoff is generous, inspirational, thorough, and passionate. As a mentor, he made my learning and growth feel like a collective responsibility. If you have not attended one of his lectures or seminars, then you are truly missing out. Evergreen should be as grateful as his former students are to have him as a professor. Please don't make the mistake of failing to renew his contract.
It’d be a pity and a great loss for Evergreen to let Eirik go. He is that professor that his students will remember years from now, who can imbue wonder and curiosity in anyone he speaks with. Isn’t that what every college—what Evergreen—should strive to have, and to keep?

Eirik made my first quarter back in school after a 16 year break an excellent experience. He embodies the qualities that brought me to Evergreen and the loss of him would be a tragic day for Evergreen.
