As I was born in Quebec and love the province, I must say I am deeply offended by this. Change the names now and HONOR black people with names that give us dignity.

Je fais beaucoup de canoe au Québec, je compte continuer à écrire aux conseilles de municipalités qui portent toujours ces noms racistes pour les encourager à enclencher un processus de transition qui n'ignore pas l'histoire.

Quebec needs to start owning up to its ongoing legacy of anti-Black racism, slavery, and Indigenous genocide. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!!!

As a Quebecer I am ashamed to find out that these clearly derogatory names are still in use. Remove them now!

History is not a valid reason to maintain place names containing words that have historically only been used to oppress and degrade.

The language is racist and needs to be changed. Historical racism is not an alibi for perpetuating racism.

Upon returning to my place of birth (40 years later) having lived in the states, I was shocked to see young people in black face in university environments. Also, the fact that I hear racial terms against blacks quite often here in Montreal. They also deny having had slaves here who traveled from the south.

Let's challenge racism and change attitudes and institutions in their various forms.
