I am in agreement that the n-word be removed from any landmark or place name. It is an ugly, hurtful and hateful word that has no place in civilized society.

It is appalling and disgusting that these names still exist. I sincerely hope this embarrassing situation gets rectified in short order. I also hope that more people just heard the broadcast on CBC and will sign up to this petition. Thank you to the organizers for bringing this to the nations attention.

Si on veut honorer des personnes on devrait plutôt assigné au lieu dit leur nom de famille, ainsi l'Histoire sera préservé et en plus leur honneur sera réhabilitée.

The fact people have to launch a petition on this topic is further proof of how backward too many Quebec bureaucrats and politicians are.

It may be a "part of the history" but it is not right...and I am appalled that they are only considering to change the name in "some of the 11 regions" and not all !.
Part of our Quebec history also includes a period where french people were called les negres blancs" but that was not OK either. And they did not like that !!! Why is it acceptable now to continue to use such a shameful and insulting name ???
