Confederate statues are a symbol of racism and hatred that should be removed immediately.

If any of Cleveland County residents claim to be TRUE CHRISTIANS then they must sign this petition! The Bible says that all sins are equal except blasphemy! These men depicted in these statues are on record making statements about "doing God's work". Pure blasphemy! They were false prophets who turned themselves into false idols! The women supporting them should be ASHAMED of themselves! Remember your Savior was NOT WHITE!! Tell them to put the statue in their backyard and out of towns square! The world is progressing forward! Get on board or drown!!!

As a native of Cleveland County, the fact that we honor our ancestors for committing treason and perpetuating white supremacy for generations, for violence committed against our black brothers and sisters is shameful. Remove the statue. Rename the road. These things are not needed to remember history.

It's time to end the legacy of hate. History will not be erased, and it will not be glorified.

Joining other progressive native North Carolineans in relegating these symbols of racial strife and hatred to locations away from public view, at most.

It’s beyond time. Whether it’s the racial past, the L taken by the south, or the celebration of the confederacy, a group that fought against the United States, there’s plenty of reasons to remove this & the other confederate statues across NC & the south.

Time to take it down. No statues to Saddam Hussein in Iraq or Lenin in Russia today.

Take it down. We are all human, and if one is hurting, we all hurt. We cannot, and should not, continue to let dark periods in our nations history be memorialized, celebrated, or constantly remind our black friends in our communities of this history. It is time for us to look forward, not back, and create a better future for us all!

This monument simply needs to go. As a white man, I am vehemently opposed to what it represents.

I fully support the removal of any and all oppressive landmarks, and name rights. Hopefully this petition continues a tidal wave of change in our communities.
