This petition has been created to request the removal of the weight limitations (60 pounds and under and over 150 pounds) rule for Clarke County Fair Swine exhibitors June weigh in. This rule change is being requested to start with the June 2018 fair projects. The weight restriction rule is creating a negative impact for the kids in Clarke County by limiting their swine projects so soon in the project year, either by not allowing more time for growth or having to restrict growth so early. This results in additional costs and stress for the families. Most importantly it negatively impacts the kids trying to have a project with pigs.

The feedback I have received from families confirms that these weight restrictions place an undue burden on our student participants. I am currently preparing a formal proposal for the fair board that outlines why removing these limits will improve the experience for all youth exhibitors.

The reach of this petition has grown significantly and demonstrates a clear consensus regarding our swine project rules. I am encouraged by this momentum because it proves how many families value the success of our young exhibitors.

I don’t think there should be a limited weigh on swine. It’s very disappointing when they don’t make weight. All our hard work goes to waste. It’s very heartbreaking.

4hers need to learn about weight management no matter how much the pigs weigh. Dont turn kids away from learning and a great experience

I just hate seeing kids walk away with tears in they’re eyes knowing they can’t follow thru with they’re swine project because they were under weight or over weight

These kids put in so much time and money just to get told they cant show because of a random weight number in june. Let them just show the pigs they worked on all year.
