As a 8th grade student now i really don't think this program is working out. This generation is the one supposed to clean up for all things humans have done wrong in the past and fix those (hunger, war, Pollution, etc) but it is hard to do that without a good education and having social skills. All we do with this is sit on computers for 6 hours a day and then go home and keep sitting on computers. We don't even have to work with each other on the program we just have to do the papers and that's it. Tge teachers jobs are basically useless with this to. We all need a better education and everyone wants to get rid of this program except for the school. This will not help any student with their education. Thank you

Basecamp seems like a good idea, but a bad execution. I was failing in the year and thought I was getting held back for sure, until I switched classes. Me and a friend of mine had been asked to switch because we were behind 7 units. Basically, it puts a lot more stress on me for sure during the year, and it's not "working at your own pace".

Everyday my kids stressed about going to school. "I hate Basecamp," "I hate school," was heard on an almost daily basis. This is not a way to instill the love of learning in our students or help to create lifelong learners, Fairview Park City Schools. You are doing a huge disservice at the expense of our children and their futures.

Summit base camp is only for certain people who learn a certain way and like most of the kids in my grade, they hate it. That is all I have to say

As a neighboring city to Fairview Park and having three children of all age ranges in our school system, the ultimate goal should be what is in the BEST interest of our children. Multiple changes have been implemented throughout the state, some wonderful and some that we as a whole in a school district to not agree with. Totally flipping the whole system and curriculum as a pilot I believe is not in the best interest of the students, but what looks good to the board of education. Fairview Park is a wonderful ever growing and prospering city but will sure shy many away with this new curriculum. Many may look to other cities or even private schools for their children's continuing education. Much more thought, time and research need to go into this plan before making such a drastic change.

Both my daughters tried basecamp and there wasn't a day when they wouldn't complain. They hate it "with a burning passion" which is actually what they said. It's not a good way to teach kids, they learn absolutely nothing.

I have met with school officials several times this past year however, I have been continually disappointed in this program. It is not an effective tool for instruction. There is a better way & I want more for my daughter.

This entire method of teaching completely takes the relationship between student and teacher to a nonexistent scenario. I have been told that this way of teaching closely resembles college instruction. However the students are LEVEL OF NATURITY is not that of a college student. Freshman college students have anxiety during that first year; students that are FRESHMAN in high school will be overwhelmed with anxiety and self doubt

We also considered sending our child to luthern west. This program has caused unnecessary anxiety and stress on our family. Actually thought about home schooling.

My sister goes to Fairview and hates the online learning programs. I will be going to Fairview next year for school, and I prefer pen and paper compared to using a Chrome book.

My daughter was able to get through the program successfully but the way it is structured created a lot of stress. They could probably keep some of the elements of the online learning but add in more teacher led lessons. Use the program for reinforcing the classroom lesson as homework.

Basecamp never really taught us anything new from what we had or were already leadrning in class it was just another way for students to fall behind and get held back in summer school.

This program is terrible. Not only did my son struggle the whole year with it, it cause him so much stress he started to act out a lot. Anytime he went to his teacher for help, he was told he had to redo the lesson because he obviously didn't learn it. The computer is not a teacher. Please remove this program from our schools. Parents should have been asked if they were even interested before our kids were made into guinea pigs.

I've gone to most meetings about Basecamp style program and I'm not sold at all... I've spoke to parents in the community, College Professors, teachers and students and I feel that there isn't enough research on this style of learning, we are 1 of 3 schools in the State and 1 of 100 in the Country that are implementing this style of learning, there just isn't enough research to put this in our school with it being talked to the tax payers of this city. I've been looking in other direction for my 6th grader , it makes me sad because I've had such great experiences thus far in Fairview schools , We pay enough in taxes here in this city that I should not have to consider Private School or Another City for Open enrollment . Let our teachers teach!!!!! Our students deserve better...
