I agree with Tory Bullock. This statue should be replaced with a monument that is designed by and empowering to the black community.

Remove this statue of a black man who was enslaved by a racist president, who only freed the slaves, to benefit USA.. If it was not for this blacks would have continued to be enslaved..

Banish it. No person should have to show appreciation for anything on their knees. We are all equal under God.

Boston and DC — time to go! To a museum please, not a riot

Place it in a museum as a reminder of our conflicted history.

Take them all down. All these terrible haunted tributes to holocaust.

This statue needs to go! It has been causing pain and harm for too long. It glorifies the white savior complex instead of true history. This does not honor Lincoln and it certainly does not respect Black people and their history in this country.

This is the 1st time I've seen this statute and I was disgusted. How is anyone that sees this statue supposed to know that it represents the Freed Man? All I see is Abe Lincoln about to patronizingly pat a man on the head.

I agree with Tory Bullock. I want this statue removed not destroyed. Please put it in a storage somewhere or a museum of a bygone racist era

It’s 2020 and we still have racist statues such as these in a city that claims to support its black community; the Boston I know and love isn’t this hypocritical.

I had never seen this statue before the Globe article about it, and I recoiled in horror when I saw it. Whether or not the sculptor intended to hurt people with it, people are being hurt and it should be changed. Put up a different statue where the two men are standing next to each other, maybe shaking hands, maybe with broken shackles on the ground.
