Please remove the statue.

This statue is a disgrace. I don’t know how it could have been put up in the first place when it is so obviously disrespectful and hurtful. It must come down NOW.

I work near this statue and it paternalistic imagery has always troubled me. We can do better. Remove and remodel!

Please take it down. I cannot fathom teaching the next generation with these images.

How about the sculpture design by Harriet Hosmer? And: would be great to represent black women as well. It absolutely has to go and I hope it’s original will follow.

Had never seen this statue (or did not pay attention to it when going by.) My first response was to recoil when I saw a photo. I am a white woman. Can’t imagine how I would have reacted if I were Black. Take it down.

That statue is demeaning and continues to support the idea that massachuttes is not a welcoming state for minorities or diversity and Boston is as racist as it’s ever been. Take it down.

I have never noticed this statue before now. Maybe it could be melted down and recast. I know that Tory Bullock recommends it go in a museum, but it is already a replica. It would be interesting to see a reimagining with a standing black man. Or perhaps a statue of Crispus Attucks. This statue is one of the most patronizing, white-saviour aggrandizing , backhanded insults I've ever seen.

This statue must be removed and replaced with a representation of true equality. No human being towers over any other.
