We had to find this statue on a work team-building scavenger hunt activity. When we visited it, my Black coworkers pointed out how messed up it was, and I couldn't believe how many times I'd walked past it without looking closely or giving it any thought. This statue is demeaning, patronizing, and belittling - it needs to go!

In the face adversity , Us as African Americans don’t want to see a glorification of slavery . We are free because God freed us not man . We were born free because God said so.
