I think Lincoln would have signed this Petition. This statue does not have the right feel for the purported purposes at all. This statue does not honor Lincoln nor serve to celebrate Emancipation. Our Black brothers and sisters should not have to see this demeaning statue. Put yourselves in their shoes. Removing this statue is not forgetting the past nor dishonoring Lincoln or The Emancipation. Removal honors the spirit of both as well as our Black fellow citizens who have had to put up with inequity for far too long.
