I respect history but this statue has bothered me since I first moved to Boston 41 years ago. The intention wasn't to mark history but instead to exert power over Blacks by placing it at the center of Boston's Financial District!

This is an unflattering depiction of freedmen and the Great Emancipator himself. Recommission it.

We suffered enough, we don't need something that reminds us of our sufferings everytime we're passing by. Help us please put the past behind us.

This is wrong; this is not glorification. This should be moved to a museum at worst. That way people can see it if they want to. The continued destruction of monuments achieves nothing.

These egregious and deplorable statutes glorifying racist bigotry need to be removed immediately. They are an assault on irrepressible damage that has caused minority disparities for far to long. The people of this country are demanding that they no longer be allowed to glorify such horrific representations of the oppression that surrounds them and must be removed from wherever they stand immediately in order to demonstrate justice and equality of the Black community which are inclusive and should be treated as such. Way overdue!!

This is not appropriate — perhaps a museum where it could be put into historical context would be better.

It's gross and even presuming the intentions were pure, it misses the mark. This statue reinforces the narrative of white supremacy.

We live in a new age where art like this is not by any means a representation of America Today , where art like this is disrespectful to a whole
Group of people in a city where they’re supposed to be “ inclusive” of everybody

Take it down. This statue represents continued oppression. We already have a monument to Abe in D.C.
