This memorial definitely does not illustrate equality. Emancipation maybe, but absolutely not equality. Your idea of putting the original statue (including the one in DC) in a museum is a great one. That way you preserve the history to illustrate the forward progress of humanity. I also applaud your method for raising awareness and making positive change happen! Looking forward to seeing the new memorial! Hopefully a new one in DC as well!

The statue could easily be altered to change the submissive stance of the kneeling man. Have him standing tall and dignified as an equal, clasping Lincoln's hand in solidarity. Easy.

This statue is absolutely not an accurate depiction of freedom, equality, or unity, it is a symbol of still being under the foot of the same people we are still, hundreds of years later, trying to get up from.

This does not show a free man, that man is clearly blinded by the fact that he's supposed to be free, replace it with a representation of a freed man next to Lincoln

I have to look a this ridiculous statue every single work day (I park at the Motor Mart). It's offensive and needs to be replaced with something that actually represents a FREED MAN.
