Take it down and replace it with a respectful image of a freed man. Get a panel of black historians and citizens. ask them. Take a vote.

This paternalistic representation of the "white savior" should be removed immediately, and another statue celebrating the victory that occurred during this time in history should be commissioned in its stead.

Horrible statue - and for those that wonder how history will be taught from it... uh, at no time in my education was a statue needed to teach me ... these things are terrifying and not worth whatever it is that someone thinks that they ‘teach’. Remove it please.

That statue is racist & gross. It's 2020, why is this still up?

Taking a first glance at this statue, without context, what do you see? Lincoln was just progressive enough in his time to win some real ground towards equality in America, but under his opposition to slavery still lay a racist ideology, and this statue personifies it.

I stand by the fact that it should be re imagined. Have them both but as he stated, standing up, as equals.
