This is such revisionist, white-washed history. (1) it continues to portray the subjugated black man (2) emancipation was only for the confederate states, it was punishment for leaving the Union not the saving of a people. Should we hold Abraham Lincoln up as a great president, yes. Is this statue an abomination, yes
