Remove it from its current setting, place it where it can be seen in proper context so we never forget.

This statue does not depict proper respect for Black people as equals to white people. Please take it down and replace it with something not centered around white saviorism.

This emancipation event is forever recorded in history and is written in history books. The statue however, does not represent true emancipation as the creator of this petition has stated. In fact, ALL slaves were not free due to the emancipation proclamation. So that’s another reason why this statue can come down. Thank you for hearing us and complying.

I've grown up in the Boston area and am embarrassed to say I've never noticed this statue before. It is really demeaning and infantilizing, and definitely needs to go.

Enough is enough, this is not a part of history that should be forgotten. It should also not be on display.

Shut down white supremacy and start with the continued mental manipulation of BIPOC by your racist statues. Your heros were terrorists.

I don't even know where this is in Boston. I may have walked past it a few times and never noticed. But how sad for Black kids (and adults) who did have to see that representation. It's not something that instills pride and confidence I would imagine. And now that Tory has brought it up, I'm in agreement about there being a need to remove it.
