I agree, this statue should be replaced with one honoring the freed slaves. Kehinde Wiley would be the perfect choice for this.

A statue commemorating the end of slavery is important. But why choose to show this in this way, with a black man on his knees? We need a symbol of black freedom, dignity and respect. Not a statue that shows the white man, who put black people in shackles in the first place, as superior for liberating black people.
