Remove The Emancipation Memorial/Freedman Statue

I know a thing or two about removing Lincoln ;)

I agree with everything Mr. Bullock says!

Archer is removing the chains from his ankles and in the process of standing. Archer Alexander was an enslaved man in Missouri during the Civil War who decided to risk his life to help the Union army. Having learned via an overheard conversation that a band of rebels had sawed the timbers of a bridge where Union troops would soon be passing, he decided to warn the Union troops of the danger . Archer Alexander is Muhammad Ali's third great-grandfather. Archer and the sculptor had met. Archer had met Abraham Lincoln also. Keep the statue do not tear it down. you cannot change history

This needs to come down ASAP

Do not take this statue down. Redesign it. Remove the gentleman on his knees. Instead have him almost standing with Lincoln's hand out stretched helping the gentleman up. Or have the gentleman fully standing shaking hands with the President Lincoln. Lincoln granted Emancipation. I wish we would stop destroying history like these things never happened. These events did happen and we cannot deny the facts but we have learned and grown from our ancestors past and their mistakes. Instead create new memorials maybe alongside some old ones explaining what we did wrong back than and re-teach people what we have learned and grown to what NOW is right. Destroying our history proves nothing. that was the Norm back in that time period. We need to keep educating not Wipeout. The answer maybe more statues, rewriting textbooks, asking questions, sharing experiences. Baby boomers have lots to offer, we remember burnt lawns, where we were exactly when, and for some how it feels to be powerless. For some, our friends, have made us feel comfortable.

This statue is racist and disgusting. It as an embarrassment to our city.

I can understand the reason Mr. Bullock wants to remove and/or change.

Please remove this ATROCIOUS statue. The depiction of a man as an animal makes it look more like a monument to the abolition of a leash law. It is truly disgusting.

Please take this down. So strange to have a kneeling, mostly naked man at Lincoln's feet. I mean, really, everybody was wearing clothing in Lincoln's day. And what about all the Black people who were Union Soldiers? Please get rid of this and let's move into the 21st century. And if you want historical figures, why not Crispus Attucks, who is a part of Boston history? Let's live in the present, thinking of and preparing for the future.

At first I thought, really? Lincoln? But it's not about Lincoln. It's about power. As Frederic Douglass said. " “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both." I appreciate Tory's efforts to do it with words. Take down that statue and I want to visit that museum, Tory- the one with with the white carpet. Probably should be white shag carpet for maximum effect. Keep up the good work.

Take down the current statue and replace it with a statue of Lincoln greeting an upright, free man. Replace the current statue with an image that can inspire and bring pride to generations to come.

This statue of Lincoln with a freed slave does not show any equality of the two men at all. It should be removed.
