I don’t know if my signature counts since I’m from Canada, but I support making appropriate changes to the statue. As Troy suggested, let’s not destroy the statue, but replace it with something that has a historically accurate portrayal. For example, have President Lincoln shaking the hand of a standing black citizen on equal ground. That’s a more relatable depiction, in my opinion. Good luck with your petition, and let’s keep the violence out of the equation. I don’t want to see anyone harmed. Take care. ❤️

YES!! replace with statue that shows respect to the FREED MAN. Standing equally, standing strong, and dressed! Equal. I agree!

I love Tory Bullock and everything he says on this subject! “The Museum of Crazy Things White People Believe In” also NEEDS to happen!

Because Black Lives Matter. This emancipated black man should not be on his knees without clothing, it’s undignified and they knew that when they made it. Put it in a museum or change it and make it better

This statue is so condescending. We should replace it with one that uplifts Black people.

So disrespectful. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how humans thought it was acceptable to turn other humans into chattel.

This statue is disgustingly offensive and racist. It is extremely offensive to African Americans.

You are misunderstanding the statue. The salve may be kneeling, but Lincoln is gesturing for him to rise. You radicals who want to rewrite\tear down history are only ensuring what George Orwell wrote in his book "1984": “Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” -George Orwell, 1984
