If you don't legally do this, I promise it's getting vandalized before the year ends.

For those arguing to leave it up- architecture and public art have a huge impact on the human psyche- they dictate our world to a great extent. This statue is problematic in and out of historical context - removing it is part of making our city physically and psychologically safer for Black lives. We need to work on making our public (and private) spaces anti racist.

I don't want to see statues in my city that glorify oppression. It's hurtful and says to me that Boston yearns for that time in history to return.

Wow what a terrible design for the message it purports to send. Take it down!

This worse than anything we have in NC, and that’s saying a lot. This is reprehensible.

This does not make me feel liberated at all. We don't need more statues reminding us that the country sees us as less than.

Take it down. Preserve it in a Musuem. So we can see the real nature of Racism in America . SO that we may remember what was.... to learn from it,.... so that we as a people never go back to oppressing anyone. That we may move forward to even more freedom of mind body and spirit.

Maybe as a result of the recent spontaneous upraising (to counter head-on what is plainly obvious to many that the seeds of racism are very deep in our country) it's now clear that irrespective of Lincoln being in it, this is a nakedly racist statue. Whatever the reason, however long it took you to get to that opinion, take it down. Tout de suite. In its place, per the video creator's initial suggestion: Lincoln on a knee, thanking Crispus Attucks, maybe wih an air of contrition around AL for his still racist earlier proposals as a still Senator. A nice little time-travel piece with a not-so-subtle nod to Colin Kaepernick.
