If it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes a village to abuse one!. Since every level of oversite was part of the coverups, we have to do it ourselves!

The favoritism was strong and obvious. I was one of the lucky ones because I was “artistically gifted” and a military kid - so I was treated well for the most part. He did pull me out of Latin class once and made me cry for something I’ve now suppressed. The last two weeks of senior year, I was allowed to skip classes and stay in his office to paint our class shield, while he bought me Chinese food. All the while talking about certain students in my class (one in particular, I won’t share his name but he was a student of color and a close friend of mine) that wouldn’t amount to anything more than convenience store managers. Not exactly appropriate discussion to be having with a student about their peers, but this was the norm. When his office door was closed, all bets where off for what would come out of his mouth.

That was an oversight on our part, and we thank you for pointing it out, it has been corrected. Many people did not come out publicly and instead privately messaged us their stories and many stood in the shadows and continuously liked comments about Spera’s unethical behaviors. There are current students and staff who are afraid to come out at this time for fear of their teaching career, future careers or college acceptance. For this reason, we find it paramount to include the “likes” of students, parents and teachers. As alumni we are also friends with many other people from the school and can see their posts to their Facebook page regarding Spera; posts you would not see unless you were their friend. We have gone through as many of these comments as we can find. Indeed, there is two sides to every story, but we cannot ignore the over 1000 comments online from former teachers, staff, students and alumni. I will be the first to come forward and say he was fantastic the first year the school opened, however, I also watched his ego take over and soon he cared more about the numbers than his students. Yes, some people commented many times, but that does not make these stories negligible. Individuals, have also come forward about his unethical behavior in his previous schools; Guilford and Norwich Tech. At this point in time we are also seeing more people coming forward in the comment section of this petition who had not previously. What is undeniable is the fact that there are far more comments about his poor behavior than there are comment about his good behavior. So yes, based on one Whales Tale Post there may only be 150 comments, but there are comments in various other locations that have gone into our count.

As the Page Administrator for Whale Tales Two, I was appalled and saddened by the number of students, parents of students and teachers who commented, both publicly on WT and in private messages, about how their lives were so negatively affected by their interactions with Dr. Spera.
Seldom have we had such an overwhelming response to a Whale Tale post.
Surely, those people responsible for our children's education should now be obligated to search for the reasons for such an outcry.

Spera is a disgusting man. He only cares for himself and will do anything it takes to stay on top. He manipulates children to do his bidding for them and sees his students as pawns in a game of chess. This behavior has gone on for years and the LEARN district has been turning a blind eye to it. and rewarding him for unethical behavior. In a “zero tolerance on bullying school” he was the biggest bully of all. There are countless stories of how he mentally abused his students and staff. He is unfit to be an educator and should never be aloud near children again.

I have written my letter to Learn and will cooperate in anyway to see justice to all those students, staff, teachers, former teachers and parents affected by the abuse of power by Dr. Nick Spera.

I have no doubt that this man should NEVER be allowed to set foot in a school ever again. Not only is he grossly incompetent, but he is also incapable of being a positive and nurturing individual.

"to clearly corroborate the accusations made by over 500 individuals" - Where do you get that statistic? I've seen one thread with over 800 comments, but by doing a quick wordmap you find over 500 (572) of those comments were made by these six people, then approx 200 comments were made by those just expressing empathy for the individuals.
That leaves about 150? Spera-Nots group is at 144? Change.org pettion supporting him at 135? Seems there are two sides to this story!
