It’s time for this to end. I hate being associated as an alum of a school that has again and again put financial gain ahead of the well being of their students. I knew too many girls who dropped out as a result of sexual assault and the actions of POP need real punishment. Time’s up.

This is horrible! What if one of those girls were YOUR daughter, YOUR niece, or YOUR granddaughter?

We had problems with them during pledging activities back in the 1990s. Inaction has allowed them to escalate their sexism to this level. Disband them or we alum will stop donating.

I do not believe Ken Brill is their sponsor anymore.

Really surprise to see this kind of toxic rituals happening at a small LAS place of learning like Augustana.

Class of '17. Abolish all the fraternities, most of all them.

I sent my son to a small private college expecting a higher level of accountability. Unacceptable that the college officials allow these "indiscretions" to continue unchecked, when a clear pattern of misconduct has developed. Time to enforce a zero tolerance policy with this group of boys. Seems they've been given too many chances to clean up their act and no longer take their "mild reprimands" seriously.

Although I am sympathetic to the fact that this fraternity has been on our campus for a long time and do not believe this is a group of inherently bad men, I am also aware of sexual misconduct issues within this group's rush and pledging process dating back since even before I first became a Viking in 2013. During my time on campus I would not participate in events with this fraternity because of the sexually aggressive behavior of its members. As a young woman navigating the aftermath of her own assault, I could not stand to be in an environment where it was considered good and normal for pledges and active members to grab and touch women in ways that were clearly uncomfortable and unwanted. Today, as a slightly-less- young woman, I have become much more vocal about my intolerance for this behavior and my support for my current and future Viking sisters. It it is time for Augustana to take a stand and send the message to all of its students that this kind of weather is not in the forecast for our campus climate. POP has issued apology after apology without action, and it's clear that their words do not reflect any true regret or remorse. Enough is enough. The current course of action proposed by campus leadership is not strict enough. One pledge class will be lost during the suspension period, but this behavior will be repeated during rush next spring and this culture of sexual aggression and disrespect for women will become ingrained in yet another group of young men during the 2021 pledging season. It is clear that only a longer-term disbanding of this group or freeze on its activities will serve to stop this cycle.

As a parent of a former grad, it saddens me that Augie had not responded properly to these and disbanded the fraternity. Behaviors will not change until there is a change

As an Augie alumnus, it disgusts and saddens me to see this kind of behavior going unreprimanded. I am proud to see students stepping up to see change happen and sincerely hope administration takes this very seriously and does the right thing.

Rape is not ok

My own experiences in the Greek system as part of the last PUG pledge class in 1993 leads me to not doubt the accused practices. My own pledge experience was traumatizing and I wholeheartedly believe that the Greek System brings little advantage to an Augustana student.

I attended Augustana 40 years ago and Phi Omega Phi (POP, as they were known then) engaged in questionable activities even then. If they're still at it (seriously nude women in a recruitment video?) then it's time for them to permanently lose their charter.
