Chalk is, in itself, harmless and does not leave a permanent mess. Please allow students to express themselves in a safe and effective way.

As an art alumni, I don't see the reason students shouldn't be able to express themselves with chalk.

Longwood is paying employees to scrub chalk off of the sidewalk when they could be doing something else. Sidewalk chalk signs have helped me know about important things happening soon that I never heard about anywhere else (ex: the college democrats debate) because university weekly emails are long and sometimes irrelevant.
