GoGuardian sux

GoGuardian is a Chrome extension website that teachers use to track students and make sure they are not playing games. Even though this seems to be a perfectly fine extension, GoGuardian has many flaws, some of them might even break the law.

The first flaw with GoGuardian is that it breaks the fourth amendment about privacy. If we had signed a contract giving them permission to track us and giving up our rights, then it would have been legal. But they installed GoGuardian overnight and without our consent. Even though it's the school's computer, we still have some rights to our privacy. This leads me to my next point.

GoGuardian doesn't only track school chromebooks, it also tracks any device that you have ever logged into with your school account. Teachers claim that they have no access to this, but GoGuardian said that they would have access to any computer.

Sometimes, your computer is not monitored by your teacher, but by a complete stranger. GoGuardian has permissions to know your IP address, so now some stranger has your IP. Not only that, they have access to all the information on your computer, most teachers think that there is no information on the school chromebook, but your whole identity is on the chromebook. Your first name, last name, birthday, location, address etc. all aren't safe from GoGuardian. Even if the GoGuardian employees won't do anything with your information, some random hacker could just get a bunch of children's information.

Earlier I said that the GoGuardian employees wouldn't do anything with your information, but that's just wrong. GoGuardian sells our information to advertisers for money. GoGuardian just doesn't care about students and just wants money.

The people at GoGuardian aren't even present in the classroom, there have been countless times when I have lost blooket because of GoGuardian. Sometimes, the teachers let us or assign a game, and sometimes it just gets closed out.

GoGuardian also records videos and audios of you, which is such an invasion of privacy. Most of us have to cover our cameras with sticky notes. But don't forget, they track us at home, which means they basically can listen in to all your conversations, and what do they do with that information? Sell it to advertisers.

GoGuardian is pretty bad in general. It does not respect our right to privacy and sells the information to advertisers. What I want to happen is for schools to ban GoGuardian. GoGuardian is already banned in Chicago, so why can't it happen hear.
