Remove Ford GoBike Stations in front of People's Homes!

This move by Motivate is terrible. They should lose the contract - and Ford should be provided an earful - given a blatant disregard for the overall process and simply acting in an irresponsible fashion.

Stakeholder engagement of ALL stakeholders should be practiced to ensure a mutually agreeable and sustainable offering is successfully executed and deployed. It's clear engaging ALL stakeholders is NOT a standard practice by Motivate. Take a lesson from the Dutch, Motivate.

Agree- these stations should not be adjacent to unwilling homeowners.

I support bike sharing, but the process is flawed on where to place stations. Motivate is motivated by a business contract with Ford to distribute GoBikes. Motivate is NOT motivated to get community buy in for these stations. In the case of 5200 Shafter they had several other good options to place it, and went ahead with a neighborhood location, instead of mixed use. The neighbors would like due community process before Motivate. In this case they only had 3 days. Not enough time or concern for those affected by this station. Move this station to two blocks away where there is mixed used area nearby- that is still close to bike paths and foot traffic to BART.

I support bike stations, but work with the community when installing them. They belong in commercial districts.

I am legally blind and don't need extra things to trip on!

Typical social engineering by a bunch of clueless people. there are 4 go bike locations within 300 yards of the one at Shafter and Cavour but none at all at the rockridge bart station. The director of transportation cant even have the courtesy to return phone calls or emails proving that he doesn't care what the residents think.

Respect private property. Homeowners deserve respect, privacy and security.

I find it ironic that supporters argue the supremacy of a public space or street and yet the commercialization of that "public" space is essentially the privatization of that very space by a commercial enterprise. Does the bike rental fees go the City or to Motivation who has been given unfettered access to the "public" spaces it deems necessary for the success of its enterprise.

I have nothing against bike rentals. They however should not be in residential neighborhoods. Also there was not adequate sharing of this plan.

There is nothing good about the bike station installed at 5200 Shafter Avenue. These bike stations belong in commercial areas only!

I live two blocks away from the GoBike station and I support both GoBike generally and this location, specifically. I think adjacent residents should be informed so that they can give advice as to the installation, but I do not believe adjacent neighbors should have veto power over these stations, or infrastructure in a public street. I didnt sign the petition, but I thought Id put my comments here to give a sense of the diversity of views in the immediate neighborhood

While undecided but generally having favorable feelings re bike chair, I find it an over grab to place this commercial enterprise directly in front of peoples homes. After all, cars can only be legally parked for 3 days-this Permanent eyesore is unfair

The Mayor has allowed a complete collapse of proper City Government procedures and lets FORD bully Oaklanders. She took the safety of our physical streets out of the hands of experienced Public Works officials and put it in the hands of the Dept of Transportation who have no guts to stand up to Ford and have eliminated fair and honest dealings with its own citizens. Our tax money is being wasted on these employees who tell Oaklanders they don’t give a damn about the neighbors and lets FORD do whatever they want. It is disgusting and should be cleaned up immediately. I for one do not appreciate the unprofessional treatment and “screw you” attitude I got from FORD and the Dept of Transportation.

Giving property owners advance notice and the ability to comment/object to proposed bike station locations is only right.

Proper notification and polling of residents would show those who do want bike share stations by their homes as well as those who do not.
