Remove Ford GoBike Stations in front of People's Homes!

Due process must be observed. Have we not learned over the last 12 months that principle MUST come before agenda??

I’m a bike person, and laud the City’s efforts to encourage increase bike use & safety. At the same time I find just plunking down these bike stations to be both stupid and insensitive—people awoke or came home to this surprise intrusion—and with NO prior notice: what’s wrong with you, Oakland??? Also, what’s with the prominent corporate logo—free & ubiquitous advertising for Ford? This situation must be addressed, and appropriate changes made.

There is plenty of room on 51st - two long green belts - between Lawton and Miles. Not in front of any houses and can be placed off the road, so no parking spaces will be used.

There should definitely be a civic process in place whereby the community is heard before placing these bike stations even in business districts. Its hard to imagine a process that would allow them to be placed in residential areas without the consent of the neighborhood affected.

The city should not allow any installment of a commercial enterprise in a residential area unless adjacent home owners agree to it in advance.

There are more than enough of these stations and to date I have only seen 1 person riding them. It makes sense to have them near main roads, public transit (such as BART), but not in residential areas.

These corporate bike stations take up parking, privatize public streets, increase traffic, noise, and littering, and have no place in front of homes. At least keep the stations in commercial zones.

This commercial enterprise should be located in places zoned for businesses. I has no place nor reason to be located in residential neighborhoods.

Improper notice. Unresponsive to calls. The placement of these for-profit bikes may negatively affect Oakland citizens and their personal property. Makes the way this public space is being used, for commercial gain, seem dishonest.

Please remove this from the neighborhood

Commercial ventures do not belong on residential streets.

Im for bikes, but not the way it was done and not always in ideal locations. I won’t use their services on principle for how they treat residents. Too bad, a good idea gone very sour.

This is a massive dereliction of duty by the City of Oakland and a horrible commercial affront to our neighborhood. The intentions may have been good, but execution was majorly flawed. Even if you aren't affected by this, this move is clearly part of an authoritarian wave that threatens our neighborhood. Please participate in opposing this poorly though-out plan.

Bike stations should NOT be located in front of residential properties.

Residents should have input into this.
