The Ford bikes take all the parking away from my neighbor Hood. I work late and I have to park 4 or 5 blocks away from my place at 4 am. My area is not a safe place to be walking that late at night!!!

The first station they put was on the school side of 21st and international. No notice just started construction. Last month they put a notice in my mail box. I emailed the lady on the notice that i was petitioning the move. as I am the only resident on the other side of the school and they are taking up "5" parking spaces for those stupid bikes. All the correspondent i received was that she was forwarding my email to the city of oakland. I did not hear from anyone else. yesterday 10/22/18 they put cones up stating they are going to start construction 10/23-10/25 no notice just cones.......

I want the one recently installed on my block gone too. No warning was given. No consent from residence either.

I support the overall concept of Go Bikes, but they should be installed on commercial streets, not residential streets.

Our family has been homeowners in Rockridge since 1968. These bike installations are ugly, invasive and take up parking spaces. There is no way they should be placed in front of or on the side of houses. Get rid of them

I thought I signed already but either I simply didn't see my name or more likely you couldn't read my writing:)
Thank you for all your hard work for our wonderful block.

This GoBike station went in on my birthday, but I waited to see how it would effect the parking situation. Well, I arrive home after midnight most evenings and find no safe parking close to where I live at 5168 Shafter Ave.
Before this station went in, that was not the case. I support bike/ride sharing and have owned a purely electric vehicle for many years, but the safety of local residents should ALWAYS come before any GoBike venture! Please relocate this station to a commercially zoned area!

Sometimes its not WHAT is done but HOW: the non-participatory process is not acceptable for a community like Oakland. Re the WHAT: People will never reduce driving til public transportation (AC Trasit, BART) is better. It is too early in that transition to saturate with so many bike stations only half a mile apart; they are too close and sacrifice too many parking places. . Furthermore, the ADVERTISING is a blight on our commons. We need accountability. Thank you for doing this.

The bike racks are awful as they create awkward obstacle courses - Ford! The father of the assembly line - the bike racks detract from the charm of our community! This is a scam - people can walk for exercise and spare the air in a variety of other ways - what a hustle! This reminds me of the traffic light cameras - where is the City Council? Oakland needs help - people need resources like places to go to the bathroom and affordable housing - this is another sign of gentrification! Enough!

How very ugly. There must be a better
way then taking up so many parking spaces. Someone is not putting on their thinking hat to come up with something that works for everyone. Or did you think that the neighborhoods wouldn't notice what you are doing here. We don't like it and it's being done in a way that is truly ugly. Doesn't fit in with our neighborhoods. Stop and rethink.

While the GoBike project is extremely appealing, I find it wrong not to involve residents and business in planning. I am also against taking parking spaces. Within 2 blocks, on College between Bryant and Lawton, 5 parking spaces have been taken.

Bike shares should remain in commercial areas. Putting them in residential neighborhoods like a Rockridge in front of a residential home is an eyesore, and results in noise and garbage. I would also think it affects property values and may also attract crime. Our tiny neighborhood full of families has already become a magnet for crime. Please spend money on greater police presence and addressing homelessness in our neighborhoods.

Yes FORD GoBike/Motivate held meetings (2 of which I attended in my neighborhood) and yet their actual implementation did not match the presentation at those meetings. The presentation I and many affected neighborshere on Shafter supported were installation of the bike rental stations in mixed use zoned neighborhoods/streets and along traffic corridors. NOT the all residential zoned street represented by this petition.Clearly with so much concern FORD/Motivate's presentation were lacking. No we do not expect the City of Oakand to hold 1 on 1 meetings with everyone affected by this commercial rental station placement. But as citizens in a democracy we would like Due Process prior to and after the sudden (72 hour notice) installation and more than a token, canned resonse from our community representatives about "passing our concerns to the responsible Parties" Yes FORD GoBike/Motivate have links to barely legible maps that are subject to change (as some stations have been installed and then removed in short time) Finally the nearby compromise locations we have presented to deaf ears are at crosstreets of TWO bike boulevards and with HIGHER visibility than this current location.

Where do I sign the petition to KEEP the bikes here?
As for the "but the process was bad" arguments. Has anyone actually looked at the map of these stations? If the city of Oakland has to sit down in the living rooms and have 1-on-1 meetings with every single person who lives next to one of these stations (and I live next to this station!) it would take FOREVER. The city had a process to streamline the selection of bike sharing locations. They chose this location (with plenty of opportunity for public comment!) because it is at the cross streets of TWO bike boulevards.
Don't like the process? Vote for politicians who prioritize slow processes over fast development of sustainable transportation. Or run for office. I sure won't vote for you.
