I have lived in the neighborhood for the past 24 years and I find this a egregious violation and taking public open space for private use. It is hazardous to say the least.

The possibility of letting Mr. Sawyer use Jeffco Open Space property as his private landing strip is total insanity. It is making all the neighbors who have to live near him very angry. He is acting as though his easement is ownership. It is not. It is public land and he has already restricted access to it, put up a fence, put lighting on it, given very little gate access and treats anyone on it like it is his land. Again, IT IS NOT. The noise of the plane is extremely loud. The fence is disrupting the movement of wildlife and the flying of the plane will scare off the birds of prey which are already down. We used to have 20 dear in our yard regularly. Now we have about 6 once in a while. The coyotes are gone. Have not heard them since the fence and lights went up. There is also potential danger to our neighborhood with the possibility of a crash starting a wildfire on a hot, dry, even slightly windy day which we have had all summer long. Pilot error, weather, wind, wildlife, unforeseen acts of nature can cause a plane to not land where it the pilot thinks he will land it. It happens very regularly and it can result in loss of life and property to all of us. The County must take into consideration of ALL the tax payers, not just what Mr. Sawyer wants because he feels entitled. This land is not his. In addition, if the County should somehow allow this to continue, our property will be devalued. This makes me really angry.

There is no justification for this fence and lighting other than to create a private airstrip that limits wildlife access. Every other user of this open space has had their usage compromised.

I live on the ridge in Willowbrook and have seen changes to the wildlife movements, listened to the plane be warmed up and had to deal with the lights. I encourage everyone’s support to stop this activity and bring back the Open Space to pre Sawyer times.

I can't see how this would be considered acceptable to allow a plan to land on an easement through open space that has pedestrian traffic, wildlife and raptors flying around the area. If he has to make a last minute adjustment or hits a hawk and goes down many houses would be in danger. I cant imagine the negative effect it would have on the value of homes that back to a landing strip.

Mr Sawyer needs to do like the rest of the aircraft owner's in the valley and drive to Centennial or Metro to operate his aircraft. In my opinion, the original easement granted to the builder of the house, a local TV personality, was egregious in and of itself. Access to the property was already available from Bellevue to the north. After the residents of Willowbrook to the west we're able to deny access through their private land, the influential owner's desire to have access through the No Ranch was taken to the county to use open space land.to accommodate that request. The outcome resulted in granting the easement, in spite of neighborhood objections at the time. To now follow that action with the approval for a landing strip would show poor stewardship of open space as well as flawed judgment by Jeffco officials. I would hope they recognize the liabilities associated with such an unlimited illegal use of an access originally intended to define vehicular access to mean ground limited motor vehicles, not aircraft.

This is absolutely unacceptable. our homeowners association maintains strict controls of our Open Space and then a single homeowner is allowed to land a plane??

Open Space should be just that. A driveway easement allows someone to drive a motor vehicle from a street to a property. That one fence has already been installed without a permit is outrageous. The clearly stated aim to use the driveway easement as a landing strip should be vigorously opposed by Jeffco and KC ranch which maintains the space
