Yes, we agree that Drag Day should not be held at GSSM.
Although it seems like harmless fun, the comic nature of the day trivializes the difficulties of those who do not conform to the gender they were assigned to at birth by society. These members of the LGBTQ+ community already have to deal with social and familial stigmas and dissaproval, and this makes Drag Day a powerful reminder of the negative opinion towards them in society.
Because we want GSSM to be open and welcoming to all students, we believe Drag Day should not be held.

Seeing the momentum pick up like this is genuinely surprising because I remember when this was just an idea I was typing out at my desk late at night. It feels like people are finally starting to look at this event through the same lens I am and honestly that realization is pretty overwhelming in a good way.

FINALLY. keep this kind of stuff away from school it has no place there.
