The major problem in Region 8 Silver Gloves is the lack of officials from outside California. This can be corrected by becoming an official, which can be obtained online. Only one coach can be in the corner at a time. An athlete can pass water or handle the stool. Joe Zanders will not be removed. As long as he is the Regional coordinator the Regional 8 Tournament will be in California. Some LBC's will send officials if the Board of Governors will vote for officials, Silver Gloves is a member group. USA Boxing cannot tell them what they must do unless USAB rules are violated and a grievance is presented with the rule specified. Cost was $100. Since USAB stated coaches could work the corner at the Regional with no back ground check don't know how that will turn out. Have your coaches become officials, or don't go to the Regional Tournament.

Tournaments should be alternated in all states not just California.

I have 2 boys who competed for the first time in the silver gloves, we live in sc but Compton is still about 2 hrs away. Here its favoritism. If your gym is well known you will get the decision. My son fought central and in all honesty I felt he won. They ref didnt count the 2 clean drops, my son did on his opponent. Come to find out the opponents coach main guy front their gym is an official and was telling the other oficials he couldn't oficialiate the bout. For me I took it as if he was giving them a sign. That that was his boxer. So I felt like they gave his kid the decision. Dont get me wrong it was a good fight but if they would of counted those drops my son would have won. This sport is expensive as it is. We us as parents pay for this travel expenses just for our kids to get recognized for their hard work and sometimes they get let down. Because of bias judging.

I had two students this year go to regionals because they trained very hard and I knew they had a great chance, one judge judged it right because I had 1&2 rounds in favor of my student and 3 round in favor of opponent. When I challenged the score card I seen it was a one sided score.. only judge #1 was fair.. scored it like I seen it.... hope the change gets done. Or bring judges from another state, not related to any of the region area. And some of us judges go to other regions and judge.. seems fair to me..

Jose is the best. And I know he wouldn't let his name be apart of something. If it wasnt for the better interest of boxing or the up and coming youth.
