UC Removal of Principal Hagstrom from Walt Disney School

She's a CPS icon. She and the board should both have to face investigations. A disgrace as a teacher representative for sure.

I live in the building next door. I feel the wrath of these old white ladies everywhere. Please, for our collective safety, replace her with a culturally aware compassionate human.

I had PST and ended up seeking for psychiatrical help because of Kathleen Hagstrom around 10 years ago. The most "polite" thing she said to me was that I deserved be gang raped and used as a cumdump by ilegal aliens in the border because of the way I was dressed. I witnessed she say my students were "crack babies", nappy headed hoes, the N word several times and not least, but extremely shocking: She told the janitor should be impaled in public plaza because her office was not clear enough the way that she wanted. Outrageous and rampant! Finally we are having justice!!!

Racist People like her have no business being the principal of a school or in any type of leadership role!

Dr. Hagstrom shows up like a crooked politician to Disney events with a bunch of promises and lies and she disappears. She has an army of gatekeepers to stop you from addressing her. I had real concerns when my kids attended that school and she refused to deal with any of them. I will be glad to see her and her horrible 80s wig go.

Reminiscing with my now colleagues who used to teach at Disney always brings up the trauma we endured under Dr. H’s leadership. We are like a band of brothers who survived and made it out to talk about the horrors we endured which included bullying, retaliation, favoritism, classism, and racism.

I interviewed at Disney II 12 years ago. After teaching a demo lesson, which she herself observed and admitted went well, she tore all of my ideas to shreds. Then, she said she would be nice and give me a chance to interview again the following week. Luckily, even though I was a new college grad desperate for a teaching job, I knew that I would never be comfortable to grow and make mistakes under her principalship. I declined her offer to come interview again, and continued looking for a supportive environment to teach. 12 years and one Golden Apple Teaching nomination later, I'm so happy I knew better than to spend a day with her as my boss.

I pulled my sons front hit his school years ago; she yelled and therefore her staff yelled. My son had a physical ailment and was bullied and this administration yelled at me for it. Thank you for collecting signatures.

During a meeting to try and get my second son in the school, she told me to remove my son from the school that he doesn't belong there (We're African-American) so that was very offensive and racist in my opinion, so I did remove my son from the school.

My family has been a victim of Dr. Hagstrom’s racist policies From literally 10 years ago. I know that this happened to several other students when I was a student at Disney as well.

Fearful of retaliation if she ever saw my name.

My niece got transfer due to her being rude when a parent needed to speak to her she would be rude and say I got no time right now...get her out

As a former employee of Disney I stand by all the comments being said. Many things contributed to the toxic environment. I would also like to add that Abby Myers has a horrid way of engaging with others. I will never forget the way she belittled me for something so minor. Both Kathleen and Abby engage in unnecessary power struggles. I was asked to leave a special needs child (who couldn’t be left unattended outside) alone at the park during recess because Abby didn’t want to get her hands dirty with another student. This is just a small tidbit of the toxic environment that is Walt Disney.

I worked for/with this person for a recess program funded by Disney and spent a few years working closely with teachers, students, and faculty. Kathleen Hagstrom would utilized intimidation and bullying techniques to not just the children and teachers, but my recess program staff as well. She would utilize intimidation with body language (making aggressive eye contact or refusing to make eye contact at all, looking DOWN at children and teachers, raising her voice, and using threats as a scare tactic.) Her methods of leadership caused faculty and children as young as KINDERGARTEN to be on edge - causing low morale. Disney felt more like a military camp than it did a nurturing school for youth, right down to the *specific* way Kathleen requested she be “greeted” in the hallways. I’m glad people are finally taking a stance to end her bullying tactics - let’s teach our kids what nurturing, warm, helpful, welcoming leaders are that possess top-notch inner character.

This is true, she should have been removed! I experienced the same problem years ago until I eventually transferred my sons because I complained until it made it to the legal department! I complained to every department possible in Chicago Public Schools, the Inspector Generals Office, they conducted an investigation so it should be on record but she must have had friends in high places because nothing happened! I would be happy to speak with anyone about my experience it definitely should be documented in Chicago Public Schools because it was a formal complaint! This shows that she never learned a lesson! I’m happy they finally listened to someone! She was racist, lied and called the police on me, they were retaliating it was horrible I was a parent there 7 years and got tired and just transferred my sons! She does try to bully Abdullah intimidate, there are double standards there for sure, I can go on and on
